Dwight Yorke And Andrew Cole Receive Phone Hacking Damages
Former footballers Dwight Yorke and Andrew Cole have received undisclosed damages over phone-hacking from Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN).
They were not present at the High Court for the settlement of their claims but were represented by their lawyers.
Lawyer Mark Elder said MGN’s actions had a “massive emotional impact” on Mr Yorke and had significantly damaged his reputation while Mr Cole had distrusted people close to him after being targeted.
Mr Elder said that while his clients were “in the public eye”, they had a “right to a private life, which should be respected”.
Others affected by the hacking and misuse of private information were the model Danielle Lloyd, and actress Jennifer Ellison.
The Newspaper group apologized for any damage or distress caused as a result of the unlawful interception of voicemail messages.
