Jeffrey Wegbe, also known as Gucci for his love of the fashion label, was shot dead at his home in Kilburn, North West London.
Armed officers and paramedics were called to reports of a shooting in Hansel Road, Kilburn, about 12.20am on August 12, 2020 which left the young man dead at the scene.
Officers found the 26-year-old churchgoer who was a well-known figure in the community and had lived in the Kilburn area in north west London for most of his life.with gunshot wound to his chest.
Detectives launched a murder investigation which was led by homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command.
Detective Inspector James Howarth said: “It appears that Jeffrey Wegbe was attacked at his home when males approached his front door and fired shots that have ultimately led to his death.
“We retain an open mind concerning the motive for the attack and are pursuing a number of lines of enquiry at a pace.
“I urge anyone who has information concerning this incident to contact my team who are waiting to speak with you. All information will be treated in the strictest confidence.”
A grey Jaguar XF estate seen being driven around Brent in the minutes before and after Mr Wegbe’s death is now an urgent line of inquiry.
Detective Inspector James Howarth, leading the investigation, said: “I am urgently appealing for information about the movements of this grey Jaguar XF estate on Tuesday, August 11 and Wednesday, August 12.
“Please do not hesitate to get in touch with us, as you may hold a significant piece of information that could help our investigation and get justice for Jeffrey and his family.”
